California Transparency in Supply Chains Act

HMS Mfg. Co. (“HMS”) strives to conduct business in a manner that is socially responsible, adheres to applicable laws and respects individuals. We expect the same from our suppliers.

On January 1, 2012, the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 (SB 657) went into effect, requiring retailers and manufacturers above a certain size, and that are doing business in California, to disclose measures used to track possible slavery and human trafficking within their supply chains. The disclosure is aimed at providing information to consumers, allowing them to make better, more informed choices about the products they buy and the companies they support.

As part of our commitment to be a responsible company, HMS requires every supplier to abide by social and environmental practices that are ethical and comply with all laws pertaining to matters such as voluntary labor, labor hours, hiring and employment practices, compensation, and the environment.

Verification

HMS requires its suppliers to refrain from the direct or indirect use of forced labor and from participating in any form of human trafficking. HMS requires its suppliers certify they have procedures to ensure compliance with laws against slavery and human trafficking, as well as verification and certification of their supply chains’ adherence to these laws.

Auditing

Suppliers are required to demonstrate adherence to ethical standards through periodic and unannounced social and environmental compliance audits conducted by either HMS, its customers and/or third-party audit companies. Upon completion of all audits, identified issues and recommendations to rectify observed violations are discussed and documented with the audited facility. Factory management is expected to address all identified issues as noted. Corrections of the identified issues are validated during a follow-up audit.

Certification

Suppliers are required, by signing agreements, to comply with ethical operational standards and to refrain from any acts of slavery and human trafficking.

Internal Accountability

HMS requires all of its employees to conduct themselves ethically. HMS will investigate alleged violations of this policy and take appropriate action at its discretion.

Training

We strive to educate those in the supply chain regarding ethical behavior and social responsibility.
